However, rising against the tide is some story to be narrated. Similarly, the list of batsmen with most fours in ODI cricket is something to relish.

How many times have we seen one of the stalwarts of the game Sachin Tendulkar sitting on the top of charts? Indeed, it has to be on numerous occasions after making his international debut for Indian National Cricket Team in 1989.

Well, it has become a norm to see Mumbaikar Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar on every batting-record list.

Tendulkar’s career spanned over 24 years which further same him scoring a bulk of runs for Team India. He has 2016 fours to his name in 463 ODI innings.

The elegant batsmen smashed record 49 tons in 452 ODI innings.

Moreover, Sanath Jayasuriya is listed second on the coveted list with 1500 fours. He not only played an aggressive brand of cricket, but he went on to shoulder the responsibility to win games for Sri Lanka. He is followed by his former teammate and ace batsman Kumar Sangakkara, who has 1385 fours to his name.

Two Australians Ricky Ponting and Adam Gilchrist maintained fourth and fifth spot respectively. Ponting struck 1231 fours after featuring in 375 ODIs. On the other side, Gilchrist has 1162 fours to his name in 287 ODIs.

Interestingly, two Indians in the form of Virender Sehwag and Sourav Ganguly have maintained sixth and seventh spot respectively.

Sehwag smashed 1132 fours in 251 ODIs, and Ganguly managed to strike 1122 fours in 311 matches.

Mahela Jayawardene alongside Tillakaratne Dilshan added flavour to the table with the most number of fours in ODIs. Jayawardene is placed eighth with 1119 fours, and Dilshan registered 1111 fours in 330 ODIs.

Christopher Henry Gayle represented the West Indies Cricket Team in 284 ODIs. Known for his remarkable hitting, Gayle registered 1073 fours in 279 ODI innings. He had instilled fear among the quality bowlers, and that has been his strength.
