Well, it has been often heard and said: ‘if you want to test the patience of a player thrown him into the Test fold and wait for him to come out victorious’. Interestingly, among the top 15 batsmen with most runs in Test cricket, 14 have already announced the retirement.

With many star players now nursing the youngsters, the solitary player in the first 15 is South Africa National Cricket Team’s resolute force Hashim Amla. So far, Amla has played 119 Tests for South Africa. In 205 Test innings, Amla scored 9,022 runs at an average of 47.23. Since making his appearance for the Proteas in 2004, Amla racked up 28 tons and 39 fifties.

Unequivocally, the list of batsmen with most runs in Test cricket kicks off from Team India’s legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar to Pakistan’s Zaheer Abbas.

Tendulkar, who also tops the list of batsmen with most fours in ODI cricket, is the well-known name among the cricketing circles without an iota of doubt.

The flamboyant cricketer had made his first-ever appearance for India at the age of 16 in 1989. While living his dream, Tendulkar went on to lead the table of batsmen with most runs in Test cricket, overall. Isn’t it a fantastic milestone to talk about?

The former batsman from Mumbai Sachin played precisely 200 Tests for India which is a record by quite a distance. He amassed 15,921 runs in 329 Test innings.

Moreover, owing to the list of top ten players with most Test runs, Rahul Dravid is placed fourth on the list of batsmen with most runs in Test cricket, with 13,288 runs in 164 Tests.
